Barnhouse 2012 Event

Today Jay and I took some time off from the House to go shopping and be inspired. We had never been to the annual Barn House event in Battleground, Washington. It was worth the drive! Visit their website for more info and pics. www.barnhousebh.com/

We had not really intended to start shopping yet for the new house since we just moved yesterday. But when the right pieces come along you have to go for it. There is nothing I like better than finding a repurposed vintage piece at a great price. After selling most of our furniture and all of our kitchen and dining room chairs we were in the market for chairs. There were several great choices but we settled on 4 slipcovered linen chairs. The chairs underneath are not great looking but were an Italian well made older parson chairs and very comfortable. Which is more than I can say about the very expensive Thomasville chairs we just got rid of. The seller Laurie of Worthy Goods made the washable linen slipcovers herself and I bought them before Jay even saw them. Fortunately he agreed they are a great look and comfy. Visit http://www.worthygoods.blogspot.com/

I couldn't help myself for $20 I could not pass up this huge hand painted vintage table lamp. With the right shade I think this lamp will make a statement. I think you either love it or hate it ... and I Love It. Well time to go back to work on the house.

Home Sweet Home for the Summer...Yes we will be living in the shop!

My handsome husband (well he is under all that paint) painted the inside of the shop top to bottom to get it spiffed up for us.

While we wait for our permit to move ahead with the inside of the house we are fixing up the shop. We are going to pull our travel trailer next too or inside and be "trailer trash" for the summer!

Demolition Stage

Wall betweeen kitchen and living room going bye bye

Third bedroom has gone away to make room for the new staircase to lower level and hallway to new Master Suite

Original Master Bedroom will become a Den Media Room
Demolition is pretty much complete.  Just waiting for the final on our permit any day and then we can move forward. Staircase will be moved to where a bedroom was so we can expand the kitchen area. The wall between the kitchen and great room will be removed to create an open concept. While we wait we have moved our attention to the outside. Never ceases to amaze me after filling an entire dumpster that we can keep finding junk on the property. We have filled about a quarter of another dumpster and I am sure it won’t be the end.

Well we have started our adventure! Moving down the street from 6711 Alden Street to 7270 Alden Street. We love our neighborhood thats for sure to be moving just 5 blocks away. We are moving from our 4,000 square foot home in a newer neighborhood on a smaller lot to a smaller house on a big lot in an older area. I was never going to get Jay to move to the country so this will be our country house in the city. We were fortunate enough to have our current home sell quickly and for the price we wanted. That leaves us homeless for several months. We are going to pull our travel trailer into the 1200 square foot shop that is on the property and be "trailer trash". Jay and I are up for the adventure. Jake is pretty cool with it, Andy is kind of appalled. He may run away from home this summer to live with Grandma who is now just a block away from our new home or to Aunt Zanys house.
